Arctic Ice Chess
5 November 2021

On Friday 5 November 2021, the second Arctic Ice Chess match on the subject of climate change was held as part of the exhibition and research project Memoirs of the Abyss: Three Ecologies and More.

The match was hosted at DPU, the Danish School of Education, through the facilitation of Malou Juelskjær, lecturer in social psychology at DPU. Jonas Andreasen Lysgaard, lecturer at DPU specialised in climate and culture, sustainable development, and environmental pedagogy, played against and discussed a range of topics with Keith Brander, Dr Emeritus, National Institute of Aquatic Resources at DTU, the Danish Technical University, and former Fisheries Science Adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in the UK. He was also lead author for the fisheries and marine ecosystem sections of the fourth IPCC report, for which the team were awarded a share of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Midway through the game they were joined by a colleague at DPU, Teaching Associate Professor Flemming Meier.
